Because of the scheduled Friend Day at our local congregation - and because it meant that Craig didn't have anything to do, like teach class or lead announcements or lead a prayer - we took the opportunity to go visit his Dad again.  For those who haven't heard, his Dad has been in and out of the hospital for the last few months with complications from his emphezima and pneumonia.  His dad, I should mention, is also 70. We started the morning with worship at the Self church of Christ - a very nice little congregation just off Hwy 100. The afternoon, we spent unloading all the wood Craig cut the day before - his Dad's family still uses wood heat. Friday night was our monthly meeting of the Texas Astronomical Society.  Each month, they have an adult program and a kids program.  This year, the kids have been studying the planets and this month was Mars - in honor of the launch next month of the next rover.  Their activities for the night were to identify traits about Mars and then to "build" their own rover.  A working on her rover.              H built one right away with all "pink" legos. C's 1st attempt - it only had one set of wheels and didn't roll too well.  Z's 1st attempt was amazing!!  This boy has a future in robotics, I'm thinking. S's rover - she and Z decided they were going to send manned rovers to Mars.  H added on to hers throughout the entire evening. A had a great birthday at the end of September - she requested a Barbie cake with a wedding cake.  She received Barbie Swan Lake movie and a red light for her Astronomy observing. September and October was also filled with football!!!  Z asked to play and had a blast.  They even named a play after him.  It was fake play where the center ( Z ) kept the ball while the others ran to a huddle in the back.  It was very cute to watch and he almost got in on one play!  Also in October, we attended the Alliance Airshow in Fort Worth.  This year, the viewing field was expanded so we were able to walk down most of the flight line and see the planes take off and land.  What a cool way to watch the airshow! We were able to see most of the performers take off.  Can you see the pilot waving?  This year, the featured performers were the Thunderbirds.  We watched them take off and land - very cool!  I'll post ...

School has progressed fairly well this year.  We are averaging 5 hours a day ( http://homeschooltracker.com/ ).  Yes, I do track what we do each day - it's not required.  However, with all we have going on, it's nice to have a written record of what's been done and when.  Also, between all the out of house trips to doctor's appointments and grocery shopping and extra curricular activities - it's nice to see we are actually getting some "real" school work done. Z is playing flagfoot ball this year and that has posed some dinner challenges, especially on Thursday's when S has piano lessons in the early evening and A has violin lessons in the late evening.  We've eatten out a few times more than planned this year - there just isn't enough time between activities on that evening to go home so we've found that DQ has some great on the go deals.  Fortunately, the Thursday evening activities are over and we have just 3 more games - just in time ...

Happy Birthday to A!!  8 years ago, September 22 was a Monday.  S spent the  day with my good friend Dawn while Craig and I went for one of my non-stress tests (NST).  While at the hospital, where my NST's were being conducted, the monitor said I was having contractions and that they were losing the baby's heartbeat almost every time.  So, Dr. M told them to check me in and she came a little later and broke my water.  She also left instructions that I was to get a pioticin drip after an hour - I never needed it!  5.5 hours after being checked in, and only several hours after having my water broken, A was born.  She was extremely considerate of the dr's schedule - she came after office hours but before the dr had to pickup her own children. A came out with a head full of hair - the dr claimed we could braid it already - weighing 5 lbs and 15 oz.  She also was 21 inches long.  And, to this day, she remains a petite little gir...

Z asked about a month ago if he could play football.  So, we searched the city's website for information about flag football and found that signups where happening right now.  We signed him up and his first game was this past weekend.  Unfortunately, the city decided that the first game was to be at Cowboy's Stadium.  Under normal conditions, it takes a good hour to hour and a half to get there.  Under the traffic/road work conditions on Saturday, it took Craig and Z close to 3 hours to get there.  The game lasted for 30 minutes and then took another 2 hours to get home. However, Z LOVED it!  He got to run and run and was even tackled several times.  He hopped right back up and kept on going.  Because of the traffic, the coach didn't make it to the stadium until after the game was over, so the boys played in their regular clothes with borrowed flags and a borrowed coach.  So, in some of the pictures, Z is wearing a red shirt.  ...
