Here's the report that Craig have to the astronomy club on our star party from this weekend. We had a local home school group at our house in Cumby last night for some observing. I used my 12" Meade LX90 and 16" F4 homemade dob and my usual eyepieces which are mostly wide angle Meades. The weather wasn't too bad, but there were some high thin clouds in the west making the Dallas light dome much more obvious and washing out some deep sky objects. Spring is a bit challenging for outreach anyway since a lot of people find the sight of a galaxy rather underwhelming. Seeing was on the poor side, but there were some brief periods where it approached good. I had hoped to give them a glimpse of M42 but the clouds to the west kept it obscured. We started with some white light solar observing. But only one family made it in time to see a couple of small sunspots before the sun went behind the trees. Yesterday, April 13, 2013, Z, said his first prayer in a worship assembly, and even with a microphone!!  Our congregation recently started a Kingdom Kids program where all the kids from birth to 6th grade meet down front before evening service for 10 to 15 minutes.  They go over Bible questions that they are working on memorizing and sing a song and then have a pray lead by one of the young men.  This was the 3rd week for the program, our 2nd to go, because Mama's been sick. Did I get a recording of Z ?  No.  Did I mention that I've been sick?  Last weekend, I went to morning service and couldn't make it to evening.  This weekend, I didn't make it to morning service but my head and nose had cleared enough to feel sort of like going last night.  I also have a quickly dwindling stash of lemon drops - which have 4g of sugar each, BTW.  So, this morning, my mind cleared just enough to remember that maybe I should have recorded it on my phone,...

Guess it's time for another update.  We've been doing some house work; I just don't have any updated pictures.  School has been progressing slowly.  Unfortunately, we've had a lot of sickness going around our family this year.  We've had Mono, Flu 2x's with 2 different people (fortunately, it stayed with just the 2 who were sick), and tons of colds.  The biggest change to schooling resulting from our move has been the change of location for certain lessons.  Several years ago, our ancient computer, which started out running Windows 97 and is now on XP, didn't have the memory or capacity to run the math software.  So, we purchased a laptop for using with school work and for me for genealogy to travel with.  That worked great for several years, until Craig went back for a masters class and started using the laptop almost daily.  We used it for awhile with math and Craig used it at night until the projects started getting bigger and, probably ...
