A little bit of Rome in Texas! It looks just like the aqueducts we saw in our geography videos of Rome and Europe.
The Espada Aqueduct was built to help irrigate the farmlands of the missions along the San Antonio River. Even today, it's an amazing feature!
We drove by Saturday night and found the gate closed. After talking to the ranger about the mill at Mission San Jose, we discovered that the gate is broken and we were welcome to park at the gate and walk to down to the aqueduct.
Someone is loving all this outdoor time, running and playing on ancient lands
