We are coming to the end of our 2nd week "back" to school.  What does that mean for people who school year round?    ----- We are back to a full schedule instead of a lite schedule.   -----  and, the girls are officially in the next grade Why do we keep track of grades?  Because they do in Bible class.  How has our 2 weeks gone?  Pretty normal for getting back into the swing of things.  Since we were gone every day for most of the summer, we started late almost every morning the 1st week - because it was so nice to just relax in the morning!  We also spent the week figuring out where we are and printing any additional worksheets/schedules/books that we need.  We didn't get everything done because we were re-adjusting other classes and because we had a "cool" day (<100) with which the kids spent the entire day outside.  We also had one day off for Mamaw and Papaw and cousin visits. I decided that our character training this year will follow the Fruit of the Spirit.  I found, several years ago, a Fruit of the Spirit Tea Bible Study .  And Confessions of a Homeschooler has a week study guide for each Fruit. I picked Sunday afternoons for our tea - which we'll do once a month.  Why Sunday afternoon - because it's what's free and because Dad can often join us.  Then, through out the month, we'll talk about what each fruit is about and how we can demonstrate it in our lives.  The Confessions study is geared toward the younger set and instead of taking a week, I'll make the days correspond to the weeks of the month.  ie: Day 1 of Patience will be week 1.  There are only 4 days worth of activites/studies.  The Tea Bible Study is geared at a junior/high school or older level.  However, I like the idea and the questions are easily adaptable for younger children. This week, we started on our home ec projects for the year.  The 1st non-cooking project is the create a sewing box.  And since Z couldn't be left out, he made a treasure chest.
