In the OK panhandle, just across the little road from the highest point in OK, there are a set of dinosaur tracks.  They are not marked on the road so it was hard to find at first because our definition of a bridge is slightly different than the reviewers (online list of things to do in OK) definition of a bridge. They are located in the dry river bed of the Cimmaron River.  Our speculation is that they were formed when the dinosaurs were running away from the volcanoes in the area, they stepped in a heavy build up of ash and then it rained before the wind could blow the tracks away, and the ash acted just like concrete and hardened, forming the fossils. This one is my favorite of the day - contemplating the past and the future.  It wasn't long after this that he mentioned the newest career possibility - Volcano-logy.

One of our day trips was to Capulin Mountain Volcano National Historic Site.  Mileage wise, it was only about 50 miles: drive time was about 2 hours because the roads were either horrible or you had to go around. One thing we noticed while drive in OK and NM is that there are cattle guards in the middle of a state highway.  Very strange and odd.  We did find a Dairy Queen in Clayton, NM and discovered that many of our favorites are a TX only thing (steak sandwiches and steak fingers).  They are however much better at making mint chocolate chip blizzards than they are at home. To visit Capulin Volcano, you drive up to the parking area and then walk down into the vent..... We all walked down the vent trail.  We saw many pretty flowers, a few native bees, and heard a deer moving in the bushes.  We even had an airplane fly over and it felt like we could almost see the passengers in the windows.
