Just outside of the town of Goliad, we discovered another mission: Mission Nuestra Senora del Rosario.
I found it, we were looking at the Goliad State Park map and site information. The kids all said "Yeah, we passed it on the way in". So, if you blink, you miss this mission!
Not much is known about it. It was part of the missions established for converting Karankawa's to Christianity. It was also under the protection of Presidio la Bahia.
The state historic association is implementing some cool features on their sites - windows that have etchings that show what the site could possibly have looked like in the 1780's
This is the mission that is the least restored. It over looks the San Antonio River, as the others do.
It is also the one with the least access, to help preserve the ruins.
