Kitchen, Pantry, and Dining Room Progress Report - January 2014

Editors note: This post will start with our 1st pictures of the kitchen/dining/pantry and will then progress through our unpacking/remodeling pictures.  Rather than wait until it's all done, I've decided to give periodic progress reports.    The kitchen would technically be described as an eat-in kitchen.  However, the eating area is about as big as our previous dining room.  The pantry is a dream - it's as big as the dining room.  The dining area has 2 large windows over looking the back and side yard.  The kitchen has lots of lower cabinets and drawers.  There aren't many upper cabinets.  Many of the doors were missing when we 1st looked.  They were fixed by the seller.  The colors?  Well, it's different and again, not really my taste.  However, they are in well enough condition that we probably won't do anything for a while. Living Room Progress Report - January 2014

Editors note: This post will start with our 1st pictures of the living room and will then progress through our unpacking/remodeling pictures.  Rather than wait until it's all done, I've decided to give periodic progress reports.  The downstairs living room has a fireplace, french doors to the back, and a pass-through bar to the kitchen.  The French back door had 1/2 of the double window, on one side, missing.  There was also a nice big hole at the bottom of the door.  It was wonderful access for spiders, dirt dobbers, wasps, and grasshoppers.   The ceiling fan didn't work but the light did.  The fan blades were attached to the fan via antlers - not really my style.  I wasn't too upset at the thought of having to replace it.  The floors, as throughout the entire house, except the stairs, is vinyl made to look like wood.  It's very rough looking. The surprise in all this is the fireplace surround - it's slate!  Very n...

Editors note: This post will start with our 1st pictures of the outside and will then progress through our unpacking/remodeling pictures.  Rather than wait until it's all done, I've decided to give periodic progress reports.    Here are some of the pictures we took before moving in.  Back AC Side  Well House  Front  Front Porch Septic side Back 1/2 of the septic side January 2014: We've made a few changed/upgrades outside.  We put some metal around what Craig calls the eye-sore to turn it into a storage room.  We added a small storage room and 2 fences.    Now we get to landscape!  Backyard with a chainlink fence - supposedly to keep the little dogs in.  It's more for the little kids now and from keeping the big dog out. Front yard with a wood picket fence - to keep the dogs away from the front doors, to keep people from driving their car right up to the front door and t...
