Happy Birthday!!

This week was H's 4th birthday.  Wow! Where has the time gone?  We spent the afternoon at the children's museum playing with several of her Bible Class classmates.  They all had a grand ol' time.  For dinner, H selected the "pink pasta" that A had for her birthday.  We used lemonade instead of cran-grape to substitute for the kirsch and it tasted much better! After dinner, she opened presents from Mamaw and Papaw and from us.  As is her tradition, the others received a small book-type present from Mamaw too.  Included with the group from Mamaw was a present from Grammie - the pretty pink and purple purse made by one of Grammie's home care givers.  It's very nice and oh so pretty! After presents came the part of her birthday everyone's been waiting for..... the cake!  Not just any cake, rainbow star shaped, rainbow cake. I think it took about 2 hours prep and cooking time to cook the cake - 15 minut...

Christmas Day 2012

As I previously posted, it snowed!  That's the big and exciting news! Z received the foam fort from a sister and they constructed it together.  A received the wooded people to go with her little tea set and mini doll house that she received last year.  She used the clay to construct the tables and chairs for her people.  And, she made the flowers on the table.

Extended Family Christmas 2012

Christmas this year was spread out over several days.  We visited both grandparents and had lots of fun playing with cousins.  It was a whirlwind trip as the forecast indicated at least freezing rain and we didn't want to be caught driving in that.  Our trip started the Saturday before Christmas at Grandpa's house (Craig's Dad).  As always, the kids had fun playing on his swing set.  This visit, even N was able to play outside.  He had to try the dirt and acorns.  He also discovered the slide!  What fun! Since Craig's step-mother is of Hispanic origins, she prepares a traditional Mexican Christmas dinner.  This was our 1st year to visit on their actual feast day.  I'm not sure the kids enjoyed it too much.  Several didn't eat anything but chips.  S did at least try a tamale.   Real Mexican food has a different taste and texture than Tex-Mex from Taco Cabana or even Mama's kitchen.  However, it fit well w...

White Christmas 2012

Can you say SNOW?  How about Snow on Christmas Day?  For Texans, it's generally a once maybe twice in a lifetime event to have snow on Christmas Day.  For 2 of my children, it's happened 3 times.  For Craig - it's happened 3 times.  For 3 of the other 2, it's happened 2 times.  For me - 3 times in my re-callable memories.  However, I did live in Germany for 3 years and have pictures of my Nonie visiting at Christmas with snow on the ground, so it's probably a few more white Christmases for me.

Happy 1st Birthday!!

Last week, we celebrated N's 1st birthday.  Wow!  Where has the year gone? We kind-of spent the entire week celebrating.  On his actual birthday, he received a big green ball.  Then, because our piano teacher was in the middle of her master's finals, we went to TAMU-C for lessons and then spent the afternoon at the children's museum.  It's a perfect year to have a membership because each time we go, N has grown and is discovering new things. The Christmas decorations were very cool! And we had fun banging the watering cans together in the farm area.  Followed by playing with the farm animals.   While A and H had a grand time shopping.  The batteries have been changed in the cash register and it was so fun to have it ring things up!   S is starting to feel too old to play in the museum.  However, she is discovering other activities besides dress up and store.  There are tables with dominoes and building...
