In my life this week...
This week started off long because the weekend was very long. To start with, Craig worked almost 24 hours straight. When he finally came home on Saturday, he wanted us to keep him awake until bed time. So, we ordered pizza and did our best to keep Dad awake. We succeeded!! However, he slept so hard that it was 9:00 in the morning when we woke up. So much for Bible class. Also, the pizza seemed to hit me and S pretty hard. We spent 1/2 of Saturday night awake too. So, we weren't early risers either. Craig went back to work Sunday afternoon and we just rested and watched movies. Monday morning arrived with everyone feeling better!!
Most of the week went well. We did start to lose steam on Friday. One of the girls suffers from occassional allergies. Today was an occassional day which translated into a slow, almost do nothing day for them and extra sewing time for me. The kids watched Race to Witch Mountain and I worked on my new skirt.
The week was also spent by the kids creating an elaborate plot for their game of Stargate SG-1. Craig likes to pull out all our seasons (1-8) and watch his favorite episodes. This time, the kids have been watching with him. Z is now calling himself "Super Iron Spider Teal'c". The girls vary between the last female they heard about and they are very good about taking turns playing Samantha Carter. One of their favorite props this week has been the piano. They have turned it, with the help of legos, into a Death Glider. The wood decor in front of the petal rods is the control of the ship. The keys are the controls for dropping the bombs. The petals themselves are used for movement. What imaginations we have at our house!
In our homeschool this week...
Everyone worked hard, on the days we had school, and got everything done. We've moved into animals in science and everyone, even the baby, had fun coloring pictures of fish. As soon as I can find it, we are going to laminate animal cards for match - which everyone is really excited about. They've also looked ahead and saw that a zoo day is one of the activites. Quess I better start planning that one.
Places we're going and people we're seeing...
This week we had our makeup dentist appointment from when we received one of our big snow storms. Dentist appointments involve going to the next closest town which includes a Hobby Lobby and a Half Price Books and a Michaels. So, before and after the appointment, we spent time browsing the books and picking up some birthday decorations and craft supplies. It was a fun day!
My favorite thing this week was...
Shopping at Hobby Lobby!!
What's working/not working for us...
Allergies! I know how the girl feels - like doing nothing!! Since most of our subjects are still done in a group setting, when one is out, we're all out! Allergies - hurry and go away!!!
Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...
I'm not sure I have any thoughts this week - just happy everyone did well on their assignments and there weren't any arguments about them.
