This year, we decided to check the weather during the day and visit the Desert Center during the coolest day instead of the hottest..... the result? We spent more time hiking.

Hiking around the butterfly trail. We've only ever made it to the butterfly garden before, never around the trail.

Enjoying the smells of the desert center. This is the prettiest we've ever seen the desert center. All of TX has received unusually large amounts of spring rain and this allowed the desert plants to bloom like never before.

The colorful rocks are located in the mining section. They have a viewing box that will let you look at what miners would have seen in the mines. The florescent colors are the flash reflecting off the natural colors of minerals.
