Star Party 2015:
For the SP this year, we took a round about way to get there via northern back roads and arrived early for an extra day at the Davis Mountains State Park.
In our 6 years of attending the star party, we've never stayed at the state park or been able to visit the Marfa lights or the Fort Davis congregation. So, we decided this year was the year to do that (and the fact that all our alternate pre-star party places to visit were surrounded by road construction which said things like "narrow roads" - not something you want to see when pulling an RV).
After getting settled in the park, we visited Indian Lodge.......
....and then drove up to the look out areas. First is looking out over toward Balmorhea (and civilization)

Next we look toward the huge greenhouses and Marfa/Alpine/Big Bend
and then towards the city of Fort Davis and the historic Fort.

Finally, a view coming back down the mountain.

We also climbed a cistern located within the park. This one appears to be functioning. Many cisterns you see across the landscape and around the historic fort are no longer used on a regular basis. In the not so distant past, they were used by citizens to gather and harvest rain water.
Finally, a view coming back down the mountain.
