We were all enjoying a relaxing afternoon at our campsite while waiting for the sun to go down when Craig noticed that the rear slide of our RV was leaning instead of level so...... we decided to pull it in slightly to see if it would level off and ...... the entire slide fell. The chain mechanism that holds the slide in place broke. The wood holding the entire assembly rotted.
And then head across NM to Raton Pass and Elk Country. Good bye New Mexico.....

Pretty flowers outside the visitors center. And, what do my children want to see in Colorado Springs? Cheyenne Mountain - "do they still have the star gate here?" ~N

After our visit to Colorado Springs, we headed back to NM and then to OK to our campsite.
What do you do out in the middle of the OK panhandle where the nearest RV dealer is 3 hours behind you or 4 hours in front of you? You go the direction you've never been before -
Head west from OK into NM (because the roads straight north are unpaved) and drive past Capulin Volcano.

...... Hello Colorado....
We spent the night in Colorado Springs, visited a sporting goods store to get another warm weather sleeping bag and tent stakes. In the morning, we visited a nice little clinic and discovered that Z had strep. We also discovered the Fazoli's and CVS. We also visited the Garden of the gods visitor center and then drove through the park. While Z and I were waiting at the clinic, the others went to Home Depot and found all the things needed to repair the RV so we could get it home.

We did also catch a glimpse or two of Pikes Peak. However, we decided not to take the train up since Z wasn't feeling well and the dr agreed.
