Guess it's time for another update. We've been doing some house work; I just don't have any updated pictures. School has been progressing slowly. Unfortunately, we've had a lot of sickness going around our family this year. We've had Mono, Flu 2x's with 2 different people (fortunately, it stayed with just the 2 who were sick), and tons of colds.
The biggest change to schooling resulting from our move has been the change of location for certain lessons. Several years ago, our ancient computer, which started out running Windows 97 and is now on XP, didn't have the memory or capacity to run the math software. So, we purchased a laptop for using with school work and for me for genealogy to travel with. That worked great for several years, until Craig went back for a masters class and started using the laptop almost daily. We used it for awhile with math and Craig used it at night until the projects started getting bigger and, probably the biggest factor, we moved so Craig couldn't leave the laptop at home anymore and just come by before class meetings.
So, we transferred all the math over to the "big" computer (about a year older than the laptop and built for graphics and heavy game usage) which is set up in my room. The biggest advantage to this, now the ones who need it to be quiet during math can close the door! The disadvantage, my computer is occupied for much of the morning so my computer work has decreased greatly, including blogging.
Another result of Craig needing the laptop more is that we weren't able to watch our Latin videos (downloads). So, we pulled the antique out from under the bed and set it up, connected to the small TV in the downstairs living room. Yes, it's still running XP and yes, XP support is being discontinued. However, as long as it can run QuickTime, I'm not concerned. We also setup an old DVD player to the little TV so that we can watch our writing videos downstairs.
The kitchen table still functions as the handwriting zone and Z's school work area. We have a couch and rocking chairs downstairs as well for our group work and the musical instruments are also located in the living room.
Overall, a much improved school work area and so far everyone is happy!
