After the Texas Star Party, we hit the ground running - we had 2 weeks of daily swim lessons and then Vacation Bible School (VBS). We also had a little down time in which the kids just played and did a little bit of school work a.k.a math!
A created a telescope for Barbie - very well thoughtout design!! She even had a shroud for the bottom, but it was dismantled before I could get the camera. Oh well, it still works! Z helped a little bit - usually being the runner for fetching the wandering legos.

This year, the theme for VBS was Creation. The publisher was Apologetics Press. It included some dinosaurs. We own several of their dinosaur books so I was comfortable letting the kids go. Z learned that "extinct" means they are all dead and that's why we don't see the dinosaurs because "they're all extinct!". The kids enjoyed the week. H enjoyed the ending auditorium time except for when they started roll playing with things we don't discuss/playing at home - kidnapping of the director (who happened to be home sick). The oldest 3 understood that he was sick and this was just playing into the skits of the week. Z wasn't too sure about it either. Both of the younger too were very happy to see their Mr. Randy the next morning!
Overall, a good week. It reinforced their learnings from home and is a great lead in for LTC this year! The book is Genesis. What a better way to start their study than with a week of VBS on creation! We did however come home with many bumps and bruises and lots of missing things. Z has a huge scratch down his back from where he was accidently pulled down the stairs - his heads just fine! I have a black and blue lip from being hit in the mouth by a bouncing toddler. I'm just glad it's not cut since cuts take ever so much longer to heal, for me. I'm hoping I'll only have a fat lip for the next 2 weeks. And, there is another little girl with the same name as A, in the same class. I think she went home with double of just about everything! A was missing alot of crafts when she got home this week! Such is the way it works. The good news, the little girl named A has been coming to VBS for at least 3 years now!
